Waimea Canyon on Kaua‘i is a geographic marvel. Often referred to as the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific,” this glorious gulch contains 3,000-foot tall cliffs with lush green foliage amidst red pops of color, sprinkled with waterfalls. Millions of years ago, volcanic activity as well as the Waimea River, helped carve out this mini canyon.

Opeakaa Falls is located in Wailua, the land of the ali’i (kings) . Opeakaa Falls is part of the north branch of the Wailua River, the 151 foot falls span 40 feet wide and are easily observed at the Opeakaa Falls overlook off of Kuamoo Road. Ample parking and small sidewalk offers safe viewing of the falls and a view of Wailua River from a small lookout on the opposite side of Kuamoo Road.
Mauna Kea is a dormant volcano on the Big Island of Hawaiʻi that last erupted approximately 4000 years ago. At 13,796 feet above sea level and over 33,000 feet from the bottom of the ocean floor, Mauna Kea is the tallest sea mountain in the world.
Mauna Kea’s summit is home to the world’s largest observatory for optical, infrared and submillimeter astronomy. Research teams from eleven different countries operate 13 telescopes atop Mauna Kea.
Is Hawaiʻi’s premier hula competition. It takes place every spring, the week following Easter Sunday. Visitors can enjoy the beautiful stories of ancient Hawaii told through song and dance. The 2020 event will take place April 12-18 in Hilo, Hawaii.
